Xiaomi Mi 9 Introduction:

After a long wait, Xiaomi has finally launched the Mi 9 series of phones in China on Wednesday.
The global launch of the phone is set to happen on Feb 24 during the Mobile World Congress 2019 event in Barcelona
The Mi 9 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor which also powers the Samsung Galaxy S10.

After a long wait, Xiaomi has finally launched the Mi 9 series of phones in China on Wednesday. The company has unveiled three smartphones - Mi 9 standard version. Mi 9 special edition, and Mi 9 SE. The key highlight of the event definitely was the company's 2019 flagship smartphone aka Mi 9. The Mi 9 comes with several next-generation features like - Snapdragon 855, wireless charging support, 48MP rear camera, glass body, fifth-generation screen fingerprint unlock, among other things.

Xiaomi has launched the Mi 9 in Beijing, China on Wednesday and the global launch of the phone is set to happen on Feb 24 during the Mobile World Congress 2019 event in Barcelona, Spain. After the global launch the Mi 9 will be available outside China, but as of now, there's no information whether the Mi 9 will head to India. Considering Xiaomi's past records, we expect the Mi 9 will not launch in emerging markets like India. In India, Xiaomi is going to launch the Redmi Note 7 with 48MP rear camera on February 28.

Display: The Mi 9 Display with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display Xiami Mi 9 screen resolution of 2340x1080p. The screen of the Mi 9 is supplied by Samsung and is protected with a Gorilla Glass 6.

Xiaomi Mi 9 features:

The Mi 9 is the first smartphone from Xiaomi to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. Xiaomi claims that with the Snapdragon 855 Mi 9 is a 20 percent faster gaming performance and 45 percent faster overall performance. The company also claims that the Mi 9 can offer 3 times AI performance than ever before.

The Mi 9 is the world's first smartphone to come with 20W wireless flash charging support. Xiaomi that the wireless charger managed to increase the charging speed by 37 percent. The Mi 9 can be fully charged from 0 percent to 100 percent in just 90 minutes, the company promises.

Highlight on the Xiaomi Mi 9 camera. On the rear panel, the Mi 9 consists of a primary 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with 0.8 µm pixel size, 1/2-inch image sensor, and F 1.75 aperture. Similar to the Redmi Note 7, the Mi 9's 48MP camera also uses 4-in-1 super pixel technology for the main rear camera. The second rear camera of the Mi 9 includes a 12MP telephoto lens with which users will be able to capture closer shots with a 2X optical zoom lens. The smartphone includes a third16MP ultra-wide-angle camera paired with F 2.2 aperture.

The triple camera set up of the Mi 9 is aligned in vertically on the back panel. Xiaomi says that it has used a hard scratch-resistant sapphire glass and a stainless steel frame to cover its 3-camera setup so users don't worry about any scratches.

According to DXOMark, the Mi 9 is capable of taking better pictures than even the Google Pixel and iPhone XS. The Xiaomi Mi 9 has managed to score 112 for still photos and 99 for videos. It has acquired the third spot in the list of best camera smartphone after Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Huawei P20 Pro.

The fifth generation in-display fingerprint sensor used inside the Mi 9 is said to be 25 percent faster than the previous generation sensors. The Xiaomi Mi 9 comes packed with a new generation of optical fingerprint recognition module, "which optimizes the unlocking experience under the scenes of strong light and dry fingers, not only unlocks ultra-sensitive but also greatly improves the success rate" the company claims.

Xiaomi Mi 9 price and availability:

The Xiaomi Mi 9 has been launched in two variants in China and both the models are said to be available in global markets. The base model of the Mi 9 comes packed with 4GB RAM/128GB storage for 2999 yuan (roughly translates to Rs 32,000). The second model comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and costs 3299 Yuan, with roughly comes around Rs 34,900. China availability information is yet to be revealed by the company.
